Giambattista Valli: PRE-FALL 2009

Giambattista Valli presented his Pre-Fall 2009 collection at the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence on Thursday as the special guest of Pitti Immagine. The collection is an orgy of Black, with occasional hints of deep orange and absinthe-toned duchesse fabrics, animal print coats, 50’s inspired skirts and gloves. I love the little black dresses (LBD) in this collection and can imagine one of Valli’s fans Victoria Beckham selecting a few for her personal wardrobe.

Victoria Beckham's DVB Spring 09 Jean Collection

Victoria Beckham released images of her Spring/Summer jeans collection and I’m in luv! I adore DVB skinny flare jeans; they fit like a miracle, so I cannot wait to pick up the peach color. Although, I should probably put down the post-midnight sandwich if I’m ever to fit in those slim-slim jeans.

I NEED A JUMP!

I’m aware the jumpsuit trend started early last year, as seen on RiRi and Maggie Gyllenhaal, but this is the year for the trend to translate to the average gal. I tried desperately to find the adorable black Andrea Meadow jumpsuit at Revolve, it’s sold out. I luv Kiki de Montparnassa’s silk short jumpsuit at Shopbop; this look combines last years trend with this years short-shorts trend.

Pre-Awards Events

As I suspected and if the Critics Choice Awards and Diamond Fashion Awards pre-arrivals are any indication of more fashion to come this month; very subdued and modest attire. Neutral makeup and nails, with the exception of the occasional red lacquer.Trends indicate one-shoulder gowns and strapless designer duds will be most popular during awards season. I’m feeling pretty confident with my award season picks! My favorites from yesterday’s red carpet are Kate Beckinsale and Debra Messing.

Debra Messing in Donna Karen

Angelina Jolie in Max Azria
Anne Hathaway in Gianfranco Ferré

AND THE WINNER IS...

Award season is amongst us! Fashion bloggers will meticulously cover the edgy Grammy Award’s, the sophisticated Golden Globes and of course, Oscar night. Established designers are busy sending their best items from their Spring 09 and Pre-Fall 09 collections to famous fashion stylist. I’ve selected some of my favorite pieces from designers who presented during Spring/Fall 09 Fashion Week. If I were a stylist, here are some of the dresses I would select for my clients to peruse. I decided to select mostly subdued colors as I do not expect to see many bright colors on the red carpet due to our current economic affairs.

Starting with the Grammy’s and ending with Oscar Night:

I will revisit this post after award season to see how many of my selections make the red carpet.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

Happy New Year readers!! It appears the nasty economy didn’t cause all to sit home and wallow. Vegas and New York City hosted some of the most notable celebrity parties. Starlets such as Carmen Electra, Kim Kardashian and Mena Suvari wore a familiar NYE trend; bedazzled, shimmery, eye catching tops and cocktail dresses.

Mena Suvari in my favorite look of the evening; backless top, candy-color nails and black leather booties (minus the crazy necklace Mena insist on wearing time and time again).
Fergie wearing Gucci Fall 08 Collection, I'm not sure of the designer for the little black dress, but something about the construction of the bust area on this dress is off.

Kim Kardashian - no comment

Chloe Sevigny wearing Louis Vuitton Spring 09 Collection
