NYC Fashion Week Fall 2009 - Joseph Altuzarra

I’m truly impressed with freshman designers Joseph Altuzarra’s debut collection at NYC Fashion week today. The pieces are artistic body hugging walking art. Altuzarra whilst only 25y/o worked briefly as a junior designer at both Marc Jacobs and Givenchy; although his style is compared to Helmut Lang or Jil Sanders.

Herve Leger Fall 2009: NYC FALL FASHION WEEK

Have you noticed all the doom-n-gloom on the runway this season?? At least Max Azria kept things lively with his signature bandage dress stepped up a notch with embellishments. My favorite dresses from the collection above and check out the runway video below.

NY FALL FASHION WEEK: Victoria Beckham

Victoria Beckham presented her Fall 09 collection yesterday morning in NYC at the Waldorf Towers by appointment. This line doesn’t disappoint; it’s very Victoria and timeless. The collection is a mixture of day wear, cocktail dresses and a few Oscar night worthy gowns. I can see Victoria wearing every item in this collection, starting with the adorable cropped black nylon zipper jacket with bow. I love it!

Paris Fashion Week Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2009 - GIVENCHY

Givenchy, pronounced ‘zhee-von-shee’, presented breathtaking couture yesterday at the Couvent des Cordeliers in Paris. At Givenchy’s helm is Riccardo Tisci, known for designing with a dark gothic edge, Tisci took a softer approach this season with draped chiffon gowns in tints of lemon, faded Parma violet, and celadon. The runway strewn with rose petals, inspired by Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema’s “The Roses of Heliogabalus” painting, as pictured above. Bravo Tisci!!

Paris Fashion Week Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2009 - Chanel

Karl Lagerfeld turned his runway into a wonderland of white flowers and leaves as the backdrop to his lace and embroidered satin dresses and jackets. I’m typically not a fan of Chanel as the clothes are at times too formal; however, this couture collection is inspiring and quite universal.

TREND ALERT: Designer Makeup

Dolce & Gabbana launched their new makeup line and hired Scarlett Johansson to be their model/spokesperson. Brillant move by D&G, I am sure I am not the only person with a girl-crush on SJ. The collection will be at Saks Fifth Avenue stores early February, with colors inspired by vivid blues from the Mediterranean, the dark burgundy shade of dahlia (Gabbana's favorite flower), and gold and black from Stromboli. I will have to see this in person before I judge, hopefully the colors are pigment rich.
