The New Autumn 2008 Burberry Prorsum Collection

Christopher Bailey’s Burberry Prorsum Fall 08 collection was amongst my favorite during fashion week this past February. Before you pull your trash can over to puke, I didn’t say Burberry, but ‘Burberry Prorsum’ ..and there is a HUGE difference. Bailey’s ideas for Prorsum are young and fresh. Bailey put his focus on proportion for the fall season. He began by balancing a short silhouette (coats) over long, skinny legs pants walking on high platforms. My favorite pieces from the collection are pictured. I would die to have the Metallic Trench Coat with short capelet attachment, Black Metallic finished tunic dress with empire bodice, and both the plum and bronze Crepe Bootleg pants with metallic finish. FABULOUS!

NINA GARCIA: "The One Hundred" Book Launch

I'm embarrassed to say I do not own Nina Garcia's 1st book Little Black Book Of Style, and now Nina has already published her latest The One Hundred, which is a guide to the pieces every stylish woman must own. What I would love to own is this RM by Roland Mouret 'Madeline' dress.

I did come across an interesting article in Chicago's RedEye newspaper in which Nina dicusses her top 10 must-haves for this fall:

1. The Little Black Dress (believe it or not, I still do not own)

2. Statement Jewelry

3. Well-tailored Jacket

4. Lace..as in this fall's Prada Lace Dress

5. Floral Prints (Nina suggest we "not retire our florals from the summer yet" - I'm on the fence)

6. Clutch Handbag ( I agree..nothing worse than an oversized trash bag at the dinner table)

7. Sexy High Heels (includes shoe booties - a must have!!)

8. Wide-Leg Trousers

9. A Great Fall/Winter Coat (agree!)

10. the Blouse ..preferably with ruffles, lace or a bow

Solid list with great suggestions.

Let me know if you have read Nina's "The One Hundred" yet..what do you think?

Christian Louboutin Rolando Pumps - GOODBYE

Ladies, this week I experienced several difficult moments. One was giving up a fabulous pair of Louboutin Rolando pumps (as seen on Victoria - pictured). Unfortunately, after several failed attempts, I realized the shoes would never fit. Goodbye gorgeous shoes!!!

TREND ALERT: Romantic Blouses

Romance is in the air this fall with 17th century inspired ruffled blouses. This season’s romantic blouses have frills around the neck or front, eliminating the need for accessories. The blouses are ultra feminine and will compliment your military inspired pants and jackets also on trend this fall. I have already invested in the adorably soft Rebecca Taylor ruffled blouse pictured below.

Spring 2009 Fashion Week

The official Mercedes-Benz Spring 2009 Fashion Week calendar has been posted!
Although it was a lot of work simply covering two shows for Fall Fashion Week, I am actually looking forward to my reunion with Bryant Park. I have submitted my designer invitation request and hope to see the following shows whilst in NYC; BCBGMaxAzria, Erin Fetherston, LACOSTE, Rock & Republic, Tracy Reese, Herve Leger and Diane Von Furstenberg. Naturally I would die to see Project Runway and Zac Posen, but sadly my travel schedule does not permit…and let’s be honest, only VIPs will get invites!

RUNWAY TO RETAIL: Rachel Roy Appearance at Nordstrom's

Rachel Roy (pictured right)

Rachel Roy delighted a fashionably dressed audience with her presence on Thursday at Nordstrom’s in Chicago. Roy was stunning (and extremely tall), dressed in a metallic-olive taffeta dress of her own design. Models on the center floor showed off her Native American-inspired collection of figure-hugging cream dresses, ornate necklines of feather and stones, and peep-toe booties (don’t the models look like mannequins??).
Shoppers spent the evening sipping champagne and trying on crisp white blouses, feminine slacks and Chanel-esque jackets. Roy entertained local reports, Nordstrom’s execs and fans while remaining eloquent and posed throughout the evening. Check out my pictures from the event.

Rachel Roy Appearance - Nordstroms Chicago

Rachel Roy, designer and wife of music mogul Damen Dash, will make an appearance at Nordstrom’s Chicago this Thursday at 6pm. Models will parade Roy’s Fall ’08 line (shown below) which Roy calls an intersection between Native American and Colonial styles. I hope the stylist at Nordstrom’s does this collection proud, as there are some beautiful and well-designed pieces to present.
