CHANEL FALL 2008 RTW - PARIS

Karl Lagerfeld showed his Chanel Fall 2008 collection today in Paris. Models were draped in the usual Chanel tweed suits, tailored skirts, ruffled and bondage dresses. Personally, I never really like Chanel on the runway, I have to see the looks in the stores or deconstructed on celebs in order to really like the cloths...hummm

CHANEL FALL RTW 2008 - PARIS Arrivals

Rihanna sure gets around..as did a few other celebs arriving at Chanels RTW fashion show in Paris today. Love RiRi's Chanel sweater and Louboutin T-Strap shoes (aval at Net-A-Porter). Claudia Schiffer looks fab, but I'm not loving last years Spring 07 Chanel sunglasses on Mary Kate Olsen. I don't care for that look in general. The only person I've seen somewhat pull that awfully odd looking sunglass off is Nicole Ritchie. I see Keane West and wife (poor thing) didn't bother to dress smart or wear a smile - no surprise here.

RiRi made a quick change into this adorable purple jumper for the Sonia Rykiel Fashion show later in the day! Luv her!
As soon as the Chanel runway pics are available I will post them!!!!

SHOE DESIGNER OF THE WEEK

No, you don’t have to pay $600, $700 or even $800 dollars to own a pair of great designer shoes! Stuart Weitzman has been designing shoes for well over 30 years and his shoes and handbags are sold in over 45 countries. Yet in the maze of Louboutin, Gucci and Prada ads we tend to forget what a great shoe Weitzman designs and at a reasonably affordable price $200-$400 U.S dollars. I've tried on a pair or two in the Weitzman boutique here in Chicago located in the famed Gold Coast and if you are selective you will find modern, comfortable styles & on sale most of the time!

VALENTINO FALL FASHION 2008 - PARIS

In case you haven’t heard, Valentino retired after designing his last line Spring 2008 RTW. New at the helm with big shoes to fill is Italian designer Alessandra Facchinetti. Valentino was known for his use of colors and bows. Facchinetti adopted Valentino’s use of bows and added a few ruffles to boot. Otherwise, I didn’t recognize the usual Valentino design flair. I thought the Fall 2008 RTW fashion line was a little dull with all the muted beige suits and black cocktail dresses. The jackets and suits are the best products of Facchinetti’s vision in my opinion. What do you think? At least the models appear to be having a grand ‘ld time backstage..wonder how much Moet & Chandon was poured??!

WORK IT!

While I love a dainty pendant necklace for my personal time, it’s best to spice up your work wardrobe with statement jewelry. In the style of our fabulous working ladies on the new television show Lipstick Jungle. Add a large pearl necklace, multi-ringed gold chained dazzler or even a little sparkle to your finger will make a simple white blouse and black trouser pop.

I’M CHARMED

In this era of chain retail stores it can be difficult to separate your style from the gal next door, especially if you are on a budget. One way to make YOU even more unique is by accessorizing. Invest in a decent pair of sunglasses, a stylish handbag or two, colorful stilettos, and a fun necklace and bracelet; trust me even the most basic pair of $30 jeans and a $10 tank top come alive.

Here are a few great examples of accessories you can purchase and wear everyday and everyone will remember you for your sense of style. I’ve owned the ‘Flap Girl’ pendant necklace for a year now, and still receive compliments daily. I brought my sister the ‘Cute as a Button’ pendant..because she is cute as a button!! Be sure to keep this look sophisticated by wearing one or two necklaces at the most.

BALENCIAGA FALL FASHION 2008 - PARIS

Balenciaga’s designer Nicolas Ghesquière created a techno-androgynous mod look for fall’s RTW production in Paris. Most of the looks are too harsh for actual ‘street’ translation. I did like the draped velvet tops with pencil pants and skirts; also I could envision Victoria Beckham wearing some of the ‘red carpet’ looks. And the shoes are fierce!
