LOOKING BACK: SPRING 08 RUNWAY

The best predictor for the future is past behavior..and no I’m not talking about you Brian! However you can apply my theory to just about everything in life, including fashion. Here are some samples of the designers I will see during Spring 09 Fashion Week in a few days. Let’s see which designers stick to the tried-n-true!

DUCKIE BROWN Spring 08 (will present Spring 09 on Sept 05 - The Salon @ Bryant Park)

Steven Cox and Daniel Silver comprise the duo behind the Duckie Brown label. Cox is a former designer at Tommy Hilfiger; Silver is a former daytime TV producer. Their reputation—along with that of twelve other designers—was made at the 2003 Gen Art Fresh Faces Show. This is my first look at Duckie Brown and I'm not overly impressed with their vision yet. I don't cover menswear typically, but I do have a few menswear favorites nonetheless; CLOAK, Dolce & Gabanna, Prada, Hugo Boss, Ferragamo and Club Monaco.

NICOLE MILLER Spring 08 (will present Spring 09 on Sept 05 - The Salon @ Bryant Park)

Nicole Miller, Spring 2008 created a moment for "streamlined glamour" and timelessness, not trends..and I agree! I did not take notice at the time but this line is very chic and I would wear almost the entire line.

LACOSTE Spring 08 (will present Spring 09 on Sept 06 - The Tent @ Bryant Park)
Lacoste, around for the past 75 years, started Spring 08 off with a trip to the company's birthplace: 1930's Basque country. In my opinion, Lacoste is a line tailored for Hampton's boutiques and bunny slops, not my personal style. Although Lacoste can put on a fabulous runway show, as Fall 08's winter-wonderland was one of my favorites.
